New Year, New Adventures

It is a new year (decade) and I have finally finished a bunch of new pieces that have taken a while to complete in the holiday rush of the last few weeks. The week of Christmas I took some pieces to Sheboygan, WI to be sold at Nest (823 N. 8th st. : nesthomestore.com). She has a beautiful space there with an amazing product selection that includes pieces from other artists and various unique sources.

Aside from the obvious initial rush that I get from selecting the fabrics (fellow artists and crafters alike, I know you can relate) for each collection, my favorite part in this creative process is deciding on the critter that is going to live in the corner of each quilt. My current favorite is the doe on the bird quilt (they have it at Nest). I know that sounds totally ridiculous to most, but the critter can make or brake the quilt. I digress.

New Years Eve was a blast here for us. We celebrated with our dear (and brave) friends who invited us over to ring in the New Year with them and our combined nine children (3 for us, 6 for them) ranging in ages from five months to 11 years. Our two oldest proceeded to behave as though their house was a new kingdom to be explored. The piano was banged on, bunk beds were climbed on, and toys were taken out with out so much as asking. All while our hosts' six children peacefully watched a movie. Luckily this is one of those easy friendships. The kind where you can discipline each others children and pretty much let it all hang out. No effort needed. A wonderful time was had by all and most made it to midnight. Unfortunately my five month old was included in this group. I am looking forward to another healthy year with all of the fun and craziness (and hopefully success) that life brings!
